In my opinion the ring looks great and convincing
as it is now, with the broken part left and the missing
stone on the right....
It's a pity! I'm sad for you. Turquoise are so brittle. You'll surely find another solution.
That is annoying indeed... I would try to find a stone/ceramy/organic material/ shell or whatever that you can shape yourself to square cabs, so you can replace the turquises.
It is in the bin. Well, not quite. It is now in pieces and being completely re-conceived as this accident has made me think that it doesn't quite suit the set.
Geee, wish you had dumped it in my waste basket ! ;o))))
I exaggerate. it isn't in the waste-basket. It is in a drawer for me to find in a year or to and perhaps be inspired to re-work it.
This may be heresy, but why not glue the stone together, and fill the crack with something black? It would blend in with all the other natural black crackle lines.
There is a word in Scotland, "scunnered", which has no real translation. It means "fed up", but much, much more. This has left me completely scunnered!
Part of it is that there is no way of replacing the stones and I would never use glue on a stone: that would be very unprofessional.
Thanks for taking the time to suggest a solution, however. It is nice to know that others are bothered about this too.
Too bad there's not a way to somehow preserve it as broken - it makes me think of a broken window with the glass cracked across the pane - it's still an interesting piece to look at. I can only imagine how frustrating this break was though, especially with the fluorite looking so nice.
